About This Quote

In Greek mythology, Hera was goddess of marriage and women. She was often depicted as a woman in a chariot, which she would ride to give her orders to other gods and goddesses. Hera was the wife of Zeus and she was known for being the queen of the gods and the queen of Olympus. The story goes that when Hera and Zeus begin their marriage, they agreed to divide the world between them.

She would rule over Olympus and he would rule over everything else. One day, Hera complained to Zeus that he did not treat her with the respect she deserved, so he decided to teach her a lesson. He sent two vultures to pick at her eyes until they were blind, then dropped them on Mount Olympus where they could not get up again.

To this day, Hera is still blind with pain from these injuries.
